The L’OCCITANE Foundation Supports Literacy and Access to Credit for the Women of Burkina Faso

Since 2010, the l’OCCITANE foundation, created 4 years earlier with the goal of supporting women in business in Burkino Faso, has been supporting two NGOs: “Aide et Action” for its literacy program, and “Entrepreneurs du monde”, for its action in favor of access to micro-credits. Three years later, it’s time for the results !

To know how to read, write and have access to credit in order to develop your own business are things that seem accessible when you are French. But when you come from Burkina Faso, to be autonomous in this way is practically impossible. This is why the L’OCCITANE Foundation, founded in 2006 with the goal of supporting women in business in Burkina Faso, has been supporting two non-governmental organizations for the past three years.

The L’OCCITANE Foundation has notably collected 600,000 Euros for "Muso Kalan" Program and the NGO “Aide et Action” working in favor of female literacy in Burkina Faso. This partnership has permitted, since 2010, to build 14 learning centers from which 830 women have left knowing how to read and write.

The second NGO the L’Occitane Foundation is committed to is “Entrepreneurs du Monde”. Its program strives to give the women of Burkina Faso access to microcredits, allowing them to develop an activity that generates money for their households. A partnership that has, over three years, made it possible to help 6,000 women, united across 139 solidarity credit unions. These two useful and fruitful collaborations will continue in the future.
