"Femme Lavande" an Intoxicating Exhibition by Jean-François Mutzig

Fascinated by life’s rare moments, the photographer Jean-François Mutzig has immortalized the many tourists strolling on the Valensole plateau during the summer season, with an exhibition entitled "Femme Lavande” or “Lavender Woman”.
By Mélissa Darré

An essential emblem of Provence, the lavender fields are among the most popular attractions for visitors passing through the region in summer. Through the lens of Jean-François Mutzig, the scene becomes a genuine painting come to life. His latest exhibition "Femme Lavande" is a hymn to the beauty of the landscape and the people that roam it, spotlighting tourists engaged in a strange ballet on the Valensole plateau.

Frolicking among the flowers, these wanderers, mostly Asian women, pose enthusiastically in this site, located between the Durance valley and the Verdon Gorge. Stolen moments captured forever by this photographer, based in Manosque since 1984 and renowned both for the intensity of his nature photographs as his generosity towards his subjects.

A humanist vision brilliantly transcribed in this new series of photographs, where feminine grace is expressed through the dissolving of outlines in favor of form and an eddy of color. So many moments of shared pleasure and happiness, to discover without further delay at the L'Occitane Museum!
